Pomona, CA (January 17, 2018) – The Southern California Water Utility Association (SCWUA) appointed San Gabriel County Water District General Manager Jim Prior as President at its monthly Board of Directors meeting in November, 2017.
Prior has been with SCWUA for eight years, most recently serving as vice president. He will serve a two-year term, which started on January 1, 2018. Prior said he is honored to serve in his new role and commended outgoing President Craig Gott for his service over the past two years.
“Craig did a great job in getting membership up and paid for and brought an exciting vibe back to our association,” Prior said. “I hope to continue on Craig’s success and keep membership up. I am looking forward to working with the fantastic people on this board and the SCWUA members. It’s a phenomenal group of leaders to be associated with.”
Prior started his career in the water industry in 1978 with San Gabriel Valley Water Company. He worked there for more than eight years, first as a gardener and then as a meter reader, pump operator and service worker. From there he spent the next 16 years at California-American Water Company as a pipefitter, heavy equipment operator, foreman, and then supervisor. In 2002, he was hired at San Gabriel County Water District as a Supervisor. He served as the Assistant General Manager at the District and became General Manager in 2016.
The SCWUA Board is rounded out by Vice President Dave Warren, Secretary and Treasurer Stephanie Moreno, Controller Brian Bowcock and Directors Mike Holmes, Scott Hopkins, Jim Elliott, Leo Barrera, Lynda Noriega and Paul DiMaggio.
